5.5.2 Stations
The positioning of the stations, as shown in Figure 5-8, is almost the same as that in the existing plan. The 18 stations on the line are found in the inner city office and commercial district containing Central Station (Stations A, B, C, Q and R), the entrance to the Waterfront (Stations D and P), the planned road and redevelopment district (Stations E and O), the high class residential development area (Stations F and N) and the Waterfront (Stations G, I, J, K, L and M), and the average distance between stations is approximately 400 m.
Regarding platforms, because the planned rolling stock is the low-floor type, as a rule existing footways will be utilized without constructing new platforms at those stations on sections of joint use with roads. The seven stations where platforms will need to be newly constructed number are D, E, F, I, J, K and L, and the platform at each will be 2 m in width and 30 m in length. All stations will be provided with a shelter and ticket vending machine.
5.5.3 Power
Stringing is the direct hang type and voltage is DC 750 V, and the power equipment has been planned to allow trains (3-car formation) to run at 3.5 minute intervals. The power station is situated within the grounds of the rolling stock depot.
5.5.4 Signals and Telecommunications
(1) Signaling Equipment
In view of the low speed operation (less than 40 km/h) and big acceleration/deceleration of the trains, signal safety equipment will not be established and train operation will be manually controlled by the drivers. However, at the entry/exit to the rolling stock depot, a 2-aspect signal linked to a train detection devices will be established in order to ensure safety.
(2) Telecommunications Equipment
Each train and the rolling stock depot will be fitted with train radios enabling communication between trains and with the depot.
